I bought this to cover keyboards in a Steely Dan tribute band that has no charts. Clearly, my expectations were too high. The music is littered with woefully wrong chord symbols, errors in the bass lines and notes, and doesn't follow the roadmaps of the recordings. Some of the keys are different from the recordings, although it's possible that this sheet music was generated from original versions and keys were changed during recording. They're probably useful to reference lyrics and melodies, but as accurate performance "charts" they're next to useless - moreso since they're all 3-staff systems with excessive content that instrumentalists don't need, creating unwieldy 5 and 6-page charts. Granted, that's probably not their intended purpose; but there's no excuse for the sloppiness of the transcribing. I'm using them for a reference aid to create my own charts, so they're marginally useful. That's about all I can say that's positive.

This particular book is loaded with tunes. That is the good part. On the down-side however... At least one song, (I have only just gotten the book) is in the wrong key by a half-step. Other chords are highly questionable. Of course, chords this complex are open to having several possible names. The generic chord stamps above the staff are less than useful. It would be better to simply name the chord since the user must ascertain the correct voicing and included intervals by ear anyway. Still, it is sometimes correct and that alone saves time. A much better book is "The Best of Steely Dan" (the one that looks just this one, except that it is green). But many of the gems are not in the green book. All in all, this book is a tolerable supplement if you are looking to dissect a large portion of Steely Dan's work. If a smaller handful is all you are interested in, get the other book. On that note, it must be stated that the green book is transcribed for guitarists. Be that as it may, it is still the more accurate of the two.

While the book includes ma,ny of my SD favorites it doesn't appear to be written correctly after the bridge of certain tunes. For example Aja starts off well but once we get the the Denny Diaz, Dean parks portion of the tune where Walter Becker takes the guitar solo and Wayne Shorter's sax solo, for several bars, one discovered that the chords seem to be off by a half step. This appears to be the case with a couple of the other songs during or after the bridge. If you can make the adjustments by modulating up to the correct starting chords starting with the bridge (or after the bridge) then you'll probably have the tune down. Other than that is OK but that can be a glaring problem.

I re-purchased this book after realizing that it totally shifted the way I view the world when I first read it back in 2001. Even though it's from the 1980's, Angela Davis's words are still relevant, and especially illuminating for me, as a white woman. I just really loved and appreciated this book and am excited to read it again. I also remember reading "Ain't I A Woman?" by bell hooks at that time, and recommend reading the two in tandem. Great insights from two of this country's preeminent thinkers.

I was shocked to learn many of the ways that black women were treated during and post slavery - extending to today. T h e history of the feminists movement as undeniably racist was a wake-up call. Thank you to the strong women of color who started and lead the intersectional book club that started with this book.

I give this book 4.5 stars which rounds up to 5.I read this book for my Women in Politics class.This book's central focus is intersectional feminism. It highlights how gender, race, and class factor into inequality. This book started off incredibly strong, but lost its way a bit in the later chapters. However, still a fantastic and insightful book.

This is an eye-opening book. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to begin understanding the intersection between women, race, and class, particularly as it relates to abolition and the women's suffrage movement. Davis writes in a compelling way that captures your attention.

A well informed book, it gave me a better understanding about the woman's struggle throughout the latter years, I can now related it to the present and see why and how things are for the Afrocentric woman more so. Each chapter was so well put together. I had to write a research paper on an author who made a social change, so I chose Angela Davis and I must say that I never regretted my choice. This book is a keeper and it is a must read. I truly enjoyed reading each page from the beginning to the end.

I didn't notice when I was buying this that it was a signed copy. What a happy surprise! Aside from the author's signature on the title page (swoon!), the book was in excellent condition. And the essays are great—they have aged really well in most cases, and are particularly relevant to today's conversations about intersectional feminism and the effects and concerns of BLM. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in feminism, race, class (all those things in the title) as well as American history. It is very accessible and readable and offered new insight on topics I thought I knew a lot about.

A thorough, incisive, well documented and elegantly written scholarly work. Anyone seeking to understand the great movements against three societal evils - racism, sexism, and economic oppression - will find insight and inspiration here.

I've seen this book months ago but didn't purchase. I thought to myself another false losing weight book to add to my collection. This book allowed me to read the free sample and also i was watching a new sow call "Life with Creflo" senior pastor/founder of world changers church intl. I just received it and i am on chapter two. This is what I am preparing to do on 9/1/2015 I will start this body transformation. I am really all over this book. Jumping chapters looking at the recipes and strength training, so I I recommend you buy your blood type only if that's what you're looking for but i ended up with the main book (mothership) and bought my blood type too. I will get back to this review after my 28 day jump start. If you don't want to do a lot of reading stick with just your blood type but if you want the original structure buy the( mothership) bloodtype bodytype so I recommend both.

I have been quite ill for almost 2 yrs. CFS, adrenal fatigue and hypothyroid. (I have seen every doctor known to man & tried everything they have told me) I know D'Adamo originally wrote this diet but Christiano's research over the last 12 yrs has really added a lot.Why do you need food allergy testing when it's already been done for you?!Do yourself a favor and get this book. I have felt so much better in just two weeks!!!I also ordered his cleansing supplements (from his website) to go along with it. I'm striving for optimal health.

The book that Mr. Christianos blood type data comes from is more to my liking. It is D'Adamo's "Eat Right 4 Your Type". Problem is that both books have conterdictions in there "OK" and "Avoid" food lists. Such as Apples are good for type "O" but apple juice is not !. Also Peppercorns are good for type O, but avoid black and white pepper ? Do a search to see what black and white pepper is made from.

this book helps me to stay healthy; it reveals blood types and the foods that I am suppose to eat. It helps me to stay feeling so great because I now eat foods that matches my blood type. There are menu for every meal and exercise instructions. I haven't prepare anything from the menu yet, but I follow the guidelines of eating the foods that matches my blood. I feel terrific following the steps. I have been committed to this for over three years.

This is a great book. I learned a lot about my own blood type, which lets meknow that I'm on the right road to a healthy body. It is very informative; I wasable to explain what types of foods is best for each person that is in my weightmanagement group, according to their blood type. I would recommend it toanyone who is looking into weight management.

I've tried the diet recommended for my blood type and it's virtually impossible for me to eat. The only meat that I can personally stomach for my type (AB-) is turkey. I hate fish and gamey meat. I cannot live on a diet of nothing but turkey because I don't even like it that much! This might work, but it's WAY too restrictive for me.

Not happy about the fact that the author considers GMO's to be healthy. The book is extremely long winded and not really set up for senior citizens. He could have covered everything in less than 6 chapter, the rest is just filler.

Combines the best of what Dr. Henry Bieler, M.D. talks about in his book, Food is Your Best Medicine, in which he gives no recipes because, as he says, "One man's meat is another man's poison. This book comes very close to giving a person the perfect diet FOR YOUR BLOOD TYPE; and also which exercises work best for your body type.

I'm a pretty serious runner and have always felt that my mind is my biggest obstacle to improvement. I bought this book based on a recommendation from Greg McMillan - I've used many of his online tools with great success.Got to say that this book was not a lot of practical help. Thought provoking, yes. I got the feeling that this was a collection of seminar speeches the author had given over time. I didn't find a great deal of practical ways to think through the suffering of athletic participation and competition. I felt that the book lacked a structure on how to approach training and competition after the reader had completed the book.In fact, the author somewhat admits this - in the Epilogue he states "... all I had to do was turn on my laptop and just sit there attentively as the words appeared in my head and my fingers magically typed out the thoughts the spirit was speaking to me." This book would seem to be a good resource if you just wanted to pick up, read a chapter, and then noodle on it a bit.I did find Chapter 15 helpful - "Be ... Do ...Have". I just think it would have served the reader better had it come much earlier in the book. And this concept of a Human Being vs. a Human Doer is a powerful one. I do believe that the author was trying to get at something very basic within ourselves. Much of the discussion on ego reminded me of Thomas Merton's False Self and True Self. But when we will be measured by our Performance, isn't that measurement being done by others?This is the first of these types of books that I have read - maybe many of them are structured this way. I will admit that discussion of how the mind works and how we deal with our inner voices is very difficult to put into words. I would be interested to read other works within this field to compare various approaches.My guess is that the author has a very successful service that he provides when he can sit down with an individual and listen to their thoughts - how they put their struggles into words. For example, in Chapter 11 "Beliefs and Behaviors" a process is outlined:"As adults who are actively pursuing our full potential, we must go back and revisit all of the things we took at face value as a kid. We must make a list of all the things we think are true and then ask ourselves, 'How do I know this is true? What evidence do I have to demonstrate this truth?'This is a lengthy and difficult process, but leads to a tremendous amount of insight and discovery. As you work through your list, you will discover that some of your beliefs or truths have little to no supporting data while others do. Yet continue to ask yourself, 'What is true and how do I know it is true?'"This is a process that must be done with someone else. Someone who can ask us hard questions and really listen to our answers. Unfortunately, a book cannot serve as that listening ear.So, in conclusion - the concepts and ideas in the book are interesting but not organized and practical. Maybe a good book to have on the nightstand and read a chapter before going to bed.

The only reason I hesitate in writing this review and sharing this book with all of my friends is that I currently feel like I have a competitive advantage over my peers! ;) I know when I bought this book a couple of years back that it had a lack of reviews and a not so well known author. I finally felt it calling me from my bookshelf a couple of days back and feel like I missed an opportunity by not reading it sooner. A few months ago, I watched a video from McMillan running of a coach giving a talk to a group of high school track and field kids. As the talk progressed, I was amazed at what he was telling these kids. "If only I'd had a coach like that when I was young, I'd never have quit sports," I thought. He was giving these kids GOLD when they could actually use it. Both in their sport and in life.Months later, I was wondering whether I should attempt my 100-mile race, or whether I should sit it out and not get injured. I was struggling with trying to figure out how much of my calculation was prudent responsibility tempering wild ambition, or how much was self-doubt masquerading as prudent responsibility tempering wild ambition. A friend pointed me to this book.I picked it up and realiized it was written by that same coach who I saw on the video. While I have yet to have answered my question, I know Beecham's book will help me know with which voice I finally will answer it. He takes age-old problems such as fear of failure or success or goal-setting and boils them down into real and applicable philosophical approaches. So many boiler-plate solutions to these issues are far distanced from reality and leave the reader empty when they find out none of them clarify their underlying motivations. Stan Beecham hits this head on. He sets the tone when he makes the point that you are not a winner, nor are you a loser. You are and always will be both, simultaneously. The rest builds on this outlook of the individual. This is gold.

This little book on the psychology of competitiveness is unbelievably good. Dr. Stan Beecham has crystalized the art of sports psychology into an easily digestable read. This is not a how to book per se but it stimulates thinking in the same way that Malcolm Gladwell does in his writing and Dan Coyle did in the "Talent Code". It also fits with Dan Siegel's brain work (see You Tube lecture on Teen Brain Chemistry or his new book "Brainstorm"). I read the book on my Kindle in less than a day. I plan on buying some hard copies to share with athletes and coaches. It was was the last book I read in 2013 but one of the BEST!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

The philosophy articulated by Dr. Beecham has changed the way I approach my work as a trial attorney and relationships with peers. I've played competitive sports my whole life, and Dr. Beecham's philosophy shed some light on why I've been successful in sports and also on how I might be more successful in professional settings and help others do the same. In sports, I was never afraid to at least try. The more I tried, the more I failed. But the more I tried, the better I got. I've started to approach my work with the same philosophy. I'm not afraid of failing. I'm afraid of not trying the things that might show me just how good I am. And I try to encourage my peers by suggesting the same approach. I think about Dr. Beecham's philosophy every time fear creeps into my thoughts and every time I hear it in someone else's thoughts. Don't be afraid. Give it your best. You're good enough today.

It has been a while since I read it. It is short, 44 pages, but it is well organized, and a good source of information. I wanted information about the No. 4 to No. 8 bench planes, but it has a lot more than that. I recommend it if you want information about Stanley Bailey planes, and other planes based on the Bailey patent.

This is not as detailed and exhaustive a Stanley type study as the "Blood & Gore" website, but it is a handy reference. I'm not sure how accurate the pricing information is - as prices will vary over time. Still, as a quick reference, it's rather handy.

Great Reference Book, I ordered for my Husband's Birthday, we have a Antique, Gift Booth in an Antique Mall and he sells a lot of Stanley tools.

A book that all Stanley Plane collectors will find invaluable. Well written with lots of hints and tips for everyone.

It a nice book but not as detailed as I wanted. I wanted a more descriptive book with more information on all planes made by Stanley. I am just starting in collecting planes I have several Stanley planes I’m restoring.
