I have been in various 12 step recovery programs for 33 years, used a multitude of meditation books directed at 12 step recovery and other devotional texts. This is by far the best one I have ever used. I am the adult child of a compulsive overeater and I guessed this book would have a focus on alcohol, higher powers and the 12 steps, making it somewhat useful for me, but not necessarily for people who just grew up in dysfunction or didn't want to work a 12 step program. I was surprised and pleased that each daily reading addresses adult child thinking and behaviors, creating awareness and identification, but leaving it up to the reader how to deal with it in terms of a recovery program. Its not overtly directed at children of addicts of any kind, just at people who grew up in unsafe and dysfunctional homes. I love it and, since I am in 12 step recovery, I take each reading into my program, but this book would be useful for anyone in therapy or just desiring some awareness and direction in their lives.
Great meditation book. I bought this book about ten years ago and I still have it and use it on a daily basis. I bought this one for a friend. The meditations are just as relevant today as they were when I bought the book years ago.
I have actually had this book for over 15 years and just recently bought the Kindle version. It is filled with daily inspirational readings for everyday life situations. I have often called it a life saver. The readings bring things into perspective, whatever your state of mind or problem might be. You can do the daily readings in chronological order or search the index for a specific topic. Thanks to the Larsen siblings and the publisher for making this little book a reality so many years ago. I'm so very grateful.
Really great daily read for Adult Children of Alcoholics, and for AlAnoners
Just what I was looking for. Love the new cover too. Anything that Earnie Larsen has written I relate to right away.Even his last book was so loving and full of acceptance. These days seems like we don't get to read or hear about men's experience with their personal struggles and how they arrived at a solution for themselves. His books give me hope, solutions and a ways to deepen my relationship with God of my understanding.
It's paid for itself already!
By far my favorite daily meditation book, I feel that it was written just for me but I realize I struggle just like so many. It is written for all of us. Wonderful daily wisdom that I apply to my life each day. This books has taught me a new, better way to live each day and that is a victory!
I give these to my friends that have problems with alcohol. That is, another person, like your child or spouse. One of the best recovery daily readers 1've used.
