Bilingual books are super helpful when one parent doesn't speak one of the languages on a native level (me!) There actually aren't that many, and finding good ones can be hard. One of the big problems is that they're often clearly written in one language and then translated by someone not native in the other language (sometimes they look almost as if by they were translated by computer!), without ever being reviewed by a native speaker in the other language for correctness. I mean, I could do that myself. I'm an expert at clumsy translations full of mistakes; what I want is a book that that's solid in both languages.We love this one. Cute story, simple enough for a child of 1, but cute enough for an older child like our 3.5-year-old daughter to enjoy at bedtime too. Ted and Fred are like old family friends now. And my native-Spanish-speaking wife confirms the Spanish is perfect. I hope writers and publishers keep producing more good bilingual books.
Big Dog... Little Dog was one of my favorite books as a kid in the 70s and now it's one of my kids' favorites. The bilingual edition has allowed me to share this great book with my kids and teach them about multiculturalism at the same time. I love it.
I bought his book because I love to ready to my son in Spanish and he loves books. I was disappointed this book is paper back and the quality is very thin and delicate. I have to make sure I don't let him kids play with this book as it can easily tear. If you can find one, I would suggest to get the hard cover version of this book.

got this book to help me learn new Spanish language. The book is a helpful and resource to learn Spanish. There it will help me learn new words and help me with the speed.
This book is excellent because it's in English and Spanish. So, you can teach you're Spanish speaking child English or your English speaking child Spanish and have the translation. I'm very impressed with this book and glad I ordered it. I also like that it instills some good lessons for young children. The last lines read, "Bueno, eso fue fácil de resolver. Los perros grandes necesitan camas grandes. Los perros pequeños necesitan camas pequeñas. ¿Por qué buscar problemas donde no los hay?" I'm very content with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone interested in English/Spanish.
Because our kids are a beautiful blend of African American, Mexican American blood, this book helps us read to them in both languages so that they can continue to speak both tongues (English and Spanish). I'm truly grateful for books such as these.
As an adult, I enjoyed reading the book myself. I thought it was a fun read not just for my 3 year old son but also for my 8 yr old. I especially liked the fact that this book is both in spanish and english. Surely, you can't expect kids to learn spanish after reading this book. But it is not about learning spanish, it's more about exposing kids to more than just english. Learning any new language adds to kids ability to think critically. I want the best for my kids so this book is a very small start on that road towards critical thinking.
