This is what I would consider a very thought-provoking and well-written book! Also a lovely tribute to the "founder" of Barn Quilts and the American quilt trails all over the country. It really grabbed my attention - so much so that I rushed out and bought a 36" x 36" piece of furniture-quality plywood, paints, sealers, and protective coatings - even before I had finished reading the book! This will be one of my Spring or Summer projects here in Central Texas! I later figured out that most of the barn quilts are much larger than my board; however, one of our barns is close to the farm-to-market road, so it should work out fine for this barn. The other barn is farther back, so it may require a 48" x 48" board - which I also have!I wish there could have been more pictures of the many described barn quilts. And it also would have been nice if the instructions for actually making a barn quilt had been included. I'll muddle my way through my project and some time this year, Texas will have at least one more Barn Quilt on display!

Not what I was looking for - writing is oK but I would have liked to know where the barns where and info about the areas the barns where in. Writer tries to be all artsy and the plain truth is, that is not necessary in this type of book.

This book tells the story of the Barn Quilt trail movement in a bunch of states. Much of it is fairly boring, and it could be a lot shorter and tell the story just as well. The writing is fair. The photos are quite nice, but the author frequently talks about barns/quilts for which there are no photos, which is frustrating. More photos and less text would make it more interesting--just photos in the order they are along the road, with a short story about each one, would be more effective.

Fascinating book ! As an art quilter, it was so interesting to me to see quilts that are made of wood that decorate barns and other exterior surfaces. Because of this book, my husband designed and made a beautiful "Barn Quilt" of his own design that we have at our home :-D

While in Iowa, I saw many quilt squares painted/displayed on barns and wondered about the history of these. A fellow quilter recommended this book to me and I am so glad she did!

This book is everything, the author said it would be (in an interview).It is so well written that you feel like you are with the writer traveling throughout each state, seeing the barn quilts. Each visit to one of the barn quilts is a history lesson. A second book is being written, I cant wait.

Bought this for my wife....an avid quilter. We noticed the many barn quilts while driving country roads in Wisconsin. Beautiful works of art. The book has excellent photography and is written quite well. Now my wife is planning a "barn quilt" for the side of the garage facing the water at our lake home!!! Recommended.

Something. If it wasn't such a good book mark, I'd send it back.

I was a big fan of “My Dad is Amazing” that I had previously purchased for my 18mo daughter. I purchased both this and that book together as a present for my niece this past Christmas. I love the colors and the illustrations are really fun. Normally, I try to gift educational toys and books, however, I will continue to gift these two books in the future because I think they are truly wonderful and fun.

For Father's day I got the companion book to this, "My Dad Is Amazing!" and my son loveeeeeees it! He also has "Dada" by: Jimmy Fallon and his first word was indeed, DADA, thanks Jimmy... Well, I noticed that our book selection was lacking books about MAMA, so for Christmas my kiddo got this gem! I absolutely love these books, the artwork is fabulous and the writing is so cute! I recommend that you not only buy this one but also "My Dad is Amazing!". They are fun to read and look at.

So, I may have ordered this and directed my husband to have the kids give it to me for Mother's Day. No shame in tooting your own horn, right? The illustrations are absolutely delightful, full of color and fun, and I was so happy to see a narwhal on one of the pages! There is also great vocabulary building words, alliteration, and rhyming. A perfect board book.

AMAZING! Beautiful, Busy and eye catching pages for my toddler! Bright vivid and fun story line keeps my child entertained the whole story and wants to read both! There is so much to look at and draws there attention all over, so this isn’t a super quick read at first! We love this addition!!

This book is so stinking cute! We had a ton of daddy books for our little girl, but none about mom, so decided she needed this for her first birthday which was unicorn themed. It talks about how wonderful mom is! As the momma, I gotta say I love that! Lol

Adorable illustrations, I love reading this to my daughter each night. It's got an adorable modern look to it and is sturdy, yet soft, which is nice considering my 6 month old likes to clunk everything into her face :)

i don't know what it is about the illustrations and colors in this book and the dad book by the same author but my son LOVES them and prefers them to most of his other books.

This is an excellent book. I originally found it at Target around Mother’s Day, but have since ordered other copies to give as gifts. We are a two-mom family, and because this book only references “mom,” it is perfect for any child, whether they have a mom and a dad, or two moms. Michael J. Mazarr is a senior political scientist at the RAND Corporation. He has been a faculty member and associate dean at the U.S. National War College and senior fellow and project leader at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. This was a great guide, and I'm very glad I purchased it before my first time to Bermuda. Here's the breakdown:Activities: The guide presents a grand array of activities and sights, but don't be deceived: while there's plenty to do, Bermuda is, at its heart, a beach vacation. Most of what you're going to do is enjoy some truly stunning beaches and relax to your heart's content. If you're thinking a tour of St. George will be a treasure of historic adventure, you might be a little let down. This goes for the other sightseeing areas, too. You go to Bermuda to enjoy incredible snorkeling, food, and romantic evenings. If you're jazzed about the history scene, choose Washington, DC, Rome, or something similar instead (you get the idea). But with that understanding, Fodor's gives you the lowdown on everything you might be interested in. (Tip: the aquarium may be bypassed without great regret, unless you're a real aquarium aficionado. It was ok, but I wouldn't do it again.)The maps: The maps are great, but they're organized a little differently that you might expect. Bermuda is organized by separate parishes (like cities, in the US), and the guide follows that format. If you look at the parish you're interested in, you'll find a detailed map of that area, with some of the standout features. So if you're expecting one single map that's attached in the back or middle (like some guides), you might be confused or disappointed. But dig a little deeper, and you have everything you need at your fingertips.Accuracy: My experience closely matched the expectations set by the guide. St. George and the Royal Naval Dockyard were interesting and enjoyable (grab a rum cake at the Dockyard if you go!), but don't expect that you'll spend hours being inundated with great historical sights and a shopper's paradise. No, the real magic is at the beaches and restaurants. And the recommendations in the guide served us very well.Recap: I loved the guide. It gave a great primer on the island and its activities, and it set reasonable expectations for the different activities, restaurants, and sights.

Very extensive research about Bermuda with a lot of great things and tips. Used this book a lot for planning our day's excursions outside our hotel. Along with our concierge this book really gave me some excellent advice on places and dining. I just wish I had read this book on the customs and dress codes before we packed. We didn't realize Bermuda was so formal.

Pretty well done - could have more specifics on fares and locations for Bermuda mass transit.They could have also provided more details about the costs and availibility of chairs & umbrellas at specific beaches. There is some info but it could be more comprehensive.In short it seems like an excellent guide to the island with a chapter on cruising, some helpfull photos and maps.

This was the worst travel guide I have ever had on Bermuda. (I have been to Bermuda 21 times) There were several wrong facts concerning Johnny Barnes and several restaurants. Shame on Fodors for such a poor guidebook. I would love to get my money refunded!!!!! Frommers is far superior.

Fodor's has always been good and it was obvious after visiting Bermuda that they had done their research well. The book told us what to do and what not to do and we found it invaluable on our trip.

This is a very useful resource! I purchased this book before our vacation, and it really helped me plan our trip.

Very helpful with lots of good tips. Not waterproof, however, if your luggage gets left out in the rain. Ha Ha :)

I was wishing for a better map with more details included. I did appreciate the cruise information.

The cover boasts that there are 33 recipes from artichokes to zucchini, but the Kindle version only has 25 recipes from artichokes to summer squash. Something is missing. I returned it.

Excellent book with great recipes.

This review is of the book sample presented as part of the listing. Sadly, it provides almost NO information about the contents of the book. Table of Contents? Nope. List of recipes? Nope. Even part of one of the recipes? Nope. What it does have is GIANT icons for Facebook, Twitter and so forth that take up more than half of the entire sample, with most of the rest being a description of ATK, not of this book or recipes. If I didn't know better, I'd think someone was trying to hide information about this book until after they get your money for the book purchase.

There are only 25 recipes, not the 33 stated on the cover. That makes me wonder if there is missing content. I found the fomatting of this ebook to be lacking. There were no links between the TOC and the individual recipes it listed, at least in my copy.
