We went through this teaching in a home group around 2006-2007. At the time I suffered from chronic lower back pain. After learning the spiritual roots of chronic diseases, I went before God and simply asked our Heavenly Father "What must I do to get my back healed?" God answered: "Stop beating yourself up over mistakes at work. You can't turn the clock back. FORGIVE yourself, move on, fix the mistake and just do the best you can." When I changed my habit, God healed my back after 25 plus years of suffering and many attempts to cope with the pain. Then I realized that my mother and her brothers suffer the same and people have said "It's in the genes". Not so. My mom is a perfectionist and so are her brothers. I didn't inherit bad genes but a bad habit. Praise YeHoVaH, I am healed.

So many of today's sickness' and diseases have a spirit root behind them. When the spirit is dealt with, the infirmity leaves. This isn't hocus-pocus. I've been delivered of fibromyalgia, chronic migraines, arthritis, and allergies because of being able to get to the root of my problems. This book has helped me discover what's been buried deep inside of me. I've testified this to many people to help them be delivered of similar infirmaties.

Wow. Prepare to get your mind blown.This book is so interesting and I do not even identify as a Christian! I believe in energy medicine, but this book goes along with so much of what we are told looking at how the energy bodies work and the law of attraction. This is just another piece of the puzzle that the world is bigger and a lot smarter than we are!If you are not a Christian, prepare for a lot of scripture and Biblical ideas, but keep an open mind and you will be amazed.

It it were not for Jolene McCord, founder of Heart of Forgiveness Ministry, heartofforgiveness.org I would never of heard about Dr. Henry Wright... Why did they ever stop preaching this information in today's churches? I am healed of Parkinson's Disease, sever anxiety, sever depression, PTSD and much, much more! May God continue to bless to the both of you and your ministries and God bless the both of you!

I agree with some of both the good and bad reviews. I have read a good chunk of the book now. He makes some very valid points about learning to love ourselves and let go of resentments, as well as forgiving. These are all things that would harm your own health. But some of the demonic interpretations seem off to me, as well as what appear to be his own odd reasons behind individial types of illnesses and diseases. I would return it if I could, but will take the positive and leave the rest.

More Excellent Way w/ DVD by Henry Wright (July 4 2009)Wow! This is one excellent book! It is not just a book. Dr. Wright speaks of going to the root of our infirmities and sicknesses. He has donetremendous medical and biblical research on it for about 35 years. Everything is backed up with scripture. There are almost 500 pages. The cost of the book is around $25.00 and I believe it could easily be sold for $60.00 or $70.00. This has really boosted our faith, as far as healing is concerned. Thank you, Dr. Wright.

I have bought this book for myself over and over because I keep giving it away. I even sent a copy to a woman featured in a NYTimes article who was suffering from MCS/EI with a note that I hope it blessed her. Did you know sickness is not from God? That the devil uses it to convince people they're bad or cursed? That sickness is a tool of the enemy to keep God's people complaining, occupied, and waylaid from their true purpose of sharing the Good News with others? In the age where the government has decided THEY are in charge of your health, it's time to put the one back in charge who can actually help you. God has a plan for healing for all of us and no matter where you are in life, healing is needed, healing is essential and healing is available. The key point here is that healing is not just an exterior issue, it's an inside-out issue. Physical issues are a manifestation of what's going on inside your body. Pastor Wright lays out the steps to healing, including strongholds and mindsets that can keep you SICK. He also put together an amazing list of illnesses and their root causes. I encourage you to BUY this book for your own heart, then buy two more to give away. Share it with everyone in your family. You deserve to have all the good things the Lord has planned for you and healing is one of them!!!

Next to the Bible, this is THE most important book I've ever found in my entire life (I'm 66). It is completely life-changing....and after reading it, attended a week-long (almost) seminar in Thomaston, GA. Our lives (my husband and I) will never be the same. Completely backed by the Word of God!! Every phrase said or written by this man and his team is backed by Scripture. I've studied the Word all of my life, and never saw a single thing out of line with Scripture. PLEASE get this book, ASAP!! And find a way to attend one of their many, many choices of seminars at the church: "Hope of the Generations!" I had been golfing sporadically for many years and recently decided to take my game to the next level. This book was the perfect starting point, and continues to be a great reference that helps keep the improvements coming.

I am new to golf. Never had a lesson, never had the rules explained to me, never played a round. This book provides 3 valuable sections for the new golfer:1. A brief history and background of the game.2. Step-by-step, the basics of the swing. This section provides clear instruction, along with diagrams, pictures, and exercises, for developing a swing. The book goes beyond the basics, describing strategies, playing each club, playing different surfaces and conditions, and general tips for improving play.3. Rules and etiquette.I strongly recommend this to the golf beginner. It is a quick read that can be used as a reference as you are developing your game.

I purchased this book to help re-fresh my memory of the basics about playing golf. Well I was blown away when it finally arrived. This book covers almost everything you need to help you with the basic fundamentals of golf. And the step by step pictorials are great to. The book was purchased from Nye Discounts, inc In Venice, Florida. Not a bad book, but there are several better options out there to improve your game. This is more recommended for the mental aspect of golf, which of course is 70% of the game.

I love this book because it has a wealth of knowledge. Everything you can think of and then additional things you didn't think of. This isn't the kind of book you sit down to read cover to cover but more of a reference manual for your golf game.

I really enjoyed walking through the history and this story. It was done very well and the paintings were great. I would recommend this book to any futrue or past dancer.

I didn't read the book, and wouldn't have been able to without a magnifying glass. It should not be available as a Kindle book as the pages are 'graphics' instead of 'text' and are illegibly small.

I l like how they used different types of poetry and lots of onomonopiea . This really helped to bring along a journey with Alicia and feel what it was like to be a ballerina.

Beautiful pictures and a great story!!!! A true story about great ballerina and how she overcame struggles with her vision. Very inspiring!

Alicia Alonso is a fascinating subject. Passionate about dance as a young child, she soared to great heights in the world of ballet. Even when hampered by visual impairments and eventually blindness, she danced magnificently. Dedicating herself to her craft, she was instrumental in advancing classical dance in Cuba by teaching, choreographing and performing. In a profession where most retire early, she continued until she was seventy-four. Although her return to Cuba when Castro took power caused her to be vilified in the West, it did not diminish her status as a prima ballerina.The art work in this book is attractive, capturing the beauty and grace of the ballet. My one gripe is the illustration of her swirling about as a child of five depict a girl clearly older by five. But all the illustrations are superb. I found the picture on page 19 depicting her with her boyfriend especially appealing.Unfortunately, the exuberance of the illustrations is tempered by the life sucking prose. It is dry, boring and at times inappropriate for the intended age group. Why highlight her father's comment that ballerinas are prostitutes? The author could have indicated that he objected and focused on her courage in following her dream. Why mention that she was impregnated before marriage? Isn't it enough to say that she married and had a child? The author fails to inject any emotion in her narrative. When Alicia and her husband have the opportunity to go on tour, they send their young daughter to live in Cuba with her grandparents. This is said flatly, without emotion. Surely this was a difficult decision, a sacrifice for the art. But it seemed no more heart-rending than packing your winter sweaters away for the season. This author tends to politicize everything. The page long anti- Battista rant was unnecessary especially when the author chose to ignore the oppressive regimes that replaced it. Alonso was committed to her craft and her country, fair enough. She was also afforded freedoms and privileges that her countrymen were not. Instead of an unbalanced political detour, I would have preferred focus on her career. Bottom line, great illustrations, flat footed prose.

This is the third "children's" book I've read by author Carmen T. Bernier-Grand. As in Diego: Bigger Than Life and Cesar: Si, se puede! / Yes, We Can Cesar, she does a nice job of providing biographical information about larger-than-life people. While I thought she did a great job with Cesar, this book is, like Diego, marred by her inability (or refusal) to censor herself for her audience. Perhaps there is a bit of me that is more prurient than I'd realized before reviewing children's books, but I object to her use of the word "prostitute" in explaining why Alicia Alonso's father thought that ballet was a scandalous impression. This book is marketed to 9-12 year old's, but it's cover and subject matter is going to appeal to younger kids. I don't want to have to explain to my seven-year-old what a prostitute is. This was a wonderful book that I absolutely couldn't put down. I live in Pittsburgh and have been to all of the sites discussed in the book but, more importantly, the author wrote a seamless story intertwining history and fiction to tell the story of a fascinating man who gave so much to the world. I am now inspired to read even more about Andrew Carnegie and the history of steel making in our country and in Pittsburgh specifically.I am an avid reader of historical fiction and believe that I have learned a great deal from reading books like Carnegie's Maid and highly recommend it to others who like a little fiction mixed into well researched history.

Perhaps a very Pittsburgh book, too -- right down to foregoing love in favor of duty, and love transmuting into ideals.When I was a child in Pittsburgh, the main Carnegie Library was a temple to learning -- no expense spared in its majestic construction and every book cherished, no matter how obscure. I used to make the series of trolley journeys from my suburban home to the university district to visit it every other weekend, just because it amazed me that I was welcome in such a palatial and scholarly environment -- everyone was. It was its sheer magnificence that began my fasciation with Andrew Carnegie. I also adored Pittsburgh -- a very complex place, for those of you who don't know it.So of course I wanted to read this book, and that side of me was gratified to come away with a better understanding of the young Carnegie and Pittsburgh in the time of the Civil War -- with an intriguing description of New York in the same time period thrown in.This book is not a literary masterpiece, but it is competently written from the POV of a ladies' maid -- a narrow view of the world, but one which serves the purposes of the book very nicely. The characters took on reality for me, and the small domestic view of some of the great robber-baron moves of the day, and of the building of the country's infrastructure, was engrossing. So was the description of the living conditions of laboring-class immigrants and Irish tenant farmers during the time of the great potato famine, which came to vivid life. And the story arc was quite satisfying -- and the farthest thing imaginable from predictable. I'll be re-reading this book in future.

The whole book seems contrived to show that a (fictional) young woman made Carnegie a great philanthropist, although he'd already decided to be one at a young age. It's also a bit boring.I realize that being a servant in the 19th century was miserable work, but how many times must we read that Clara brushes Mrs. Carnegie's hair 200 strokes at night and rubs in rosewater lotion and buffs her nails? Darns her silk stockings? A servant's work was certainly repetitious, but the writing doesn't need to be. I felt as though the author just copy-pasted those passages in as filler.Similarly, all the details that Clara instantly grasped about the insider trading and M&A activity among robber barons was too technical for my entertainment. One of Clara's big victories in the books is when she suggests to Carnegie that he sue for patent violation. A modern female lawyer (such as the author) might think of that. There's no way a simple Irish girl would have heard of it - I don't care how many poetry books her father somehow found for her to read. That's the lawyer talking, not the Irish maid.I did leave wanting to read a good, non-fictional bio of Carnegie. His life story must be fascinating. Why did he live with his mother until his 50s and only marry after her death? Very Freudian!P.S. For Downton Abbey fans (every review seems to mention DA), please remember that DA begins when the Titanic sinks in 1912. Carnegie was already elderly when the Titanic sank. This is about a very different era.

This is a nice story about how Andrew Carnegie changed from a “cut throat” businessman building his fortune, to one of the greatest philanthropists in history. It’s an interesting story that moves quickly. I enjoyed it.

Too much romance for my taste, but the historical portion was pretty good!! I couldn’t put it down. Without all the romance, I would’ve given it a 5 star. Andrew Carnegie was a complex individual with his business acumen, philanthropy, and (very interestingly) his late in life marriage to a very young bride. The description of Pittsburg was quite fascinating.

A very fulfilling and soothing read

When this book was first published it was unique. And it has stood the test of time. A feel-good book that lives up to its title with inspiring and informative text by Ilse Crawford, former editor of English Elle Decor, and special photography by Martyn Thompson. This book does not disappoint.

i have many, many home decor books and this one by far and away is my most favorite and has the best philosophy. and the cover is fuzzy and pleasant to handle AND nice to look at.

Since I've picked it up, this book been a guilty pleasure of mine and I haven't wanted to put it down! The book features helpful advice, tips, and direction for allowing your lifestyle, body, mind, heart, and home to become healthier and better suited for today's busy world. Not only is there wonderful photography, but the formatting of the book keeps each page unique and interesting, and thrills me to keep reading so I can see what else I'll find.A nifty feature is that the book is sorted into categories, and in the back there's a database for easy reference that includes tips, where-to for each topic, and even a directory of stores that Crawford recommends. She writes for a hopeful, healthy, hearty audience that wants to blend both natural elements into the home as well as contemporary elements. My only bugger about the book is that while she recommends less technology so that the reader can rediscover natural elements and blend the two together, the book is obviously dated as 1998, as technology has jumped in form and popularity. I would enjoy seeing a new version of this book, very much so. If you're looking for a great read, great imagery, and great ideas that you may not have thought up before, Crawford writes to excite your mental, physical, and spiritual self by accenting just how primal, carnal, sensual, and beautiful our senses really are. Never give up the search for comfort and happiness!

I have owned this book for about 3 years now and it by far the most helpful home book I have ever owned. I think this is a book for people that are very aware of their five senses and want a home that is intimate, simple, nurturing and pleasurable. Crawford cover the five senses, examining how to enhance your home experience with fabrics, textures, smells, sights, sounds, tastes and sights. She focuses on using natural materials rather than chemical ones. Cotton, silk, cashmere, natural stone, aromatherapy, flowers, etc. are all discussed. There is a great directory towards the end on what businesses she recommends finding the best, natural materals discussed in the book. I also love that the cover of the book itself is textured. I always ome back to this book for guidance on what I really need in my home to make it a warm, intimate, senual, pared down and happy place.

Great book on understanding the growth patterns on southern california. Lot of information. I suggest skimming becuase it is a THICK book with small print.

Wow! William Fulton's look at the workings of Los Angeles government takes the reader on a trip through history to help discover how Los Angeles got to be how it is today. Many different case studies explore various elements of this "Reluctant" metropolis, such as the story of one particular block downtown, the fight with Las Vegas over water rights, how the urban transportation system came to be the way it is--and why it will never change, and how a college student singlehandedly and unintentionally changed the face of Ventura County politics forever. These are just a few of the fascinating tales William Fulton spins of Los Angeles. As a member of a Southern California transit advocacy group, I found the entire book hard to put down. After reading this well-written book, the reader should be more knowledgeable about the west's largest metropolis and how many elements come together to shape a region. I hope you enjoy this book with the same enthusiasm with which I did.

William Fulton's a rockstar...he's a planner, he's a journalist, he lives in southern California, and he writes about southern California. Damn.This book is so well written. SoCal is very politically apathetic, so it takes some gripping prose to shake us out of our coma. He tackles bickering local agencies, squabbling egos, litigious neighboring cities, backlash against the entrenched growth "machine," opposition to mixed-use developments, and Chinatown water issues.The paperback edition has an Afterword chapter that brings us up-to-date with the subject matter. Fools whine that there's no professional football team in L.A., but can you believe that downtown's last 2 Fortune 500 corporations, Arco and Times Mirror, were eaten up by out-of-state companies in the 1990s?

This book is a must read for anyone willing to expose themselves to the stories behind the stories of Los Angeles. The stories reveal the apathetic and self-centered nature of some Los Angeles citizens (who will never really admit they are from "Los Angeles"), and sets the stage for an entire change of mindset among Los Angelenos. This mindset is one that takes notice of the community, and the larger metropolis that communities make up. For a graduate city planning student as I, these stories help shape some basic values of mine regarding the nature of cities and communities. I strongly recommend this book.

Read this book! It is the best book I've read on development and growth in the LA basin. It's very well-written and incorporates both political and professional planning vantage points. Describes very succinctly the interplay between water, developers, and municipal leaders over the past century. Don't believe the whiner who rated this at two stars: he's a disgruntled slow-growther who has a personal bone to pick. Fulton captures the essence of Los Angeles without necessarily endorsing or advocating a position.

The joke in Los Angeles is 'I've never been to downtown Los Angeles'. This is book that tells all about the decentralization of LA. Unlike most cities in America, Los Angeles' decentralization is a product of the explained 'growth machine'. One of the most unique cities in America and possibly one of the most depressing. I would have given this book 5 stars but i award 5 stars to inspirational books. The politics of Los Angeles makes me want to curl into a ball and shove myself into a dark corner (no worries though, it's perpetually sunny here).

This book is for any person who likes to read about Los Angeles. Gives thoughts and theories of how and why L.A. developed the way it did. Ventura county politics and growth issues are also adressed in the book.
