As a long time fan of Anya Seton, I was expecting a bit more from this story, but it was still quintessential Anya Seton. For me, it was like seeing an old friend again after many years.

I recently discovered this author and I love her writing style, so I ordered every book that she ever wrote. I was glad to find this in such great shape.

It was not as good as other Anya Seton books I have read. I will get her historical novels next time. I loved "Katherine."

Anya Seton novels are usually thick, this one is thin....barely a few hours read. BUT I enjoyed the novel very much...interesting plot lines and historical tie ins. Worth the read!

I might be a little prejudice about this book. Dr. April Schulte has been my acupuncturist for over 10 years. She has been instrumental in all aspects of my health. She has gotten me through some very low physical and emotional times in my life. In this book, I learned about Dr. Shulte’s personal journey in finding her health. I loved learning about the many aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It’s so true one needs to take charge of their health and this book explains the many avenues one can accomplish this. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who believes and wants control over their physical , emotional and spiritual life.

I heard about this book at 6:08pm, bought it at 6:10pm, and read it all the way through by 9:10pm. It never ceases to amaze me when people who suffer manage to become supersurvivors and then decide to tell their tale in writing. In the absence of family stories around the campfire, the process memoir as a means to transmit knowledge and wisdom is superb. I learned some valuable truths about my own lifelong health outcomes. Excellent!

I can’t say enough about how Incredible I think Dr. Schulte is! I guess I can say I’m so thankful when my physician suggested I see her, I was desperate enough to make an appointment for acupuncture. (I was terrified of needles!) Using an integrative approach in my health care every aspect of my health has improved, without negative side effects!!!

I truly believe April’s care greatly extended not only the time my Mother had while facing terminal cancer, but more importantly the quality of that time. Acupuncture provided her with pain relief, stress relief, and inner peace. It was an important part of her treatment and she swore by it. April is Truly gifted and this book is a wonderful resource.

I’ve been lucky and have managed to travel around Italy a handful of times since 2003 and have seen a lot of the big sites, but until a couple of weeks ago, I never travelled with a guidebook. This last trip, my wife and I took this one and the Lonely Planet. Why use a guidebook? Well, I felt like I always somehow missed out on something and, as is so easy to do in Italy, felt like I got shuffled into a few tourist traps, so I thought I’d bring along a couple guidebooks to see if they’d help out.After a few days in Florence, I ended up leaving the Lonely Planet behind as I felt it led me to a few of these tourist trap places I was trying to avoid. Besides, I really enjoyed the suggestions for restaurants and some of the more interesting side activities found in the Moon Guide without the sort of snark of the LP. So, I guess you could say the writing style in the Moon Guide is just more my speed.The phrase book is easy to use, too. I’m not great with other languages, but my wife loved it and used it to be my personal Italian translator when we couldn’t find someone to speak English!My wife and I spent time in Florence, Rome and a few beautiful days in Lucca (HIGHLY recommended), the last of which I don’t think we would have thought of without the help from this awesome little book. Do yourself a favor and pick it up for your trip to Italy. It’ll easily save you its purchase price in great bites to eat for less and other little travel tips that can save you some money along the way.

I have been to all three of the cities and this book gave me ideas and suggestions I would have never known about. It made me appreciate them on a different level and provided very useful information and really unbelievable detail. Move over Rick Steves. This is a guide that exceeded my expectations. It is much more than a travel guide. It was like having a personal tour guide. My 9 year old daughter loved reading all of the historical descriptions, which by the way are one of the most enjoyable parts of this sophisticated little book. The depth of the discussion into Italy's treasures made me appreciate this guide as a traveler and as a history buff. Sometimes just a little insight into where you are makes all the difference. I have owned several Italy travel guides and this one is my favorite. It is so comprehensive but at the same time physically small enough to carry around. This book will help you navigate the streets and fill as many days as you have with insider suggestions and accurate information obviously written by someone who knows Italy. It is divided into chapters color coded for easy reference and contains just about everything any tourist or seasoned travelled needs to know. I love it.

Mr. Cohen's guide to Rome, Florence & Venice was a breath of fresh air in the often stale "tour guide" book realm. He writes with enthusiasm, humor and a deep understanding of the subject matter. You can tell he really loves the places he's writing about and wants you to enjoy and experience them just as much as he does. I highly recommend this to anyone traveling to these wonderful places in lovely Italy! Ciao 8^)

Your travels are generously mapped out. Whether you're traveling alone or with your family this book is a must read.

This was an interesting book for background but not really a travel guide. Rick Steve's is MUCH better on what to see and on HOW to do things and the DK travel guides are far the best on what things actually look like (LOTS of photos and maps with the buildings drawn in). Moon also was a little amateurish, with quite a few uncorrected typos. Again an interesting read, not a good guide.

Incredible writing, Smooth and loving feel from this book.. I felt the caring as each chapter progressed, And it was as if I was in the story watching it unfold. Great information. I am learning alot from this book as I read it. Learning about my family heritage just now. This has opened up the indians woman place as a mother, healer, helper, and all other aspects.. I am not done reading the book yet. So still at it. Cannot go wrong with this book.

The author clearly describes Native American culture, spirituality and traditions in an easy-to-read style. The book could be improved by adding a list of terms and subjects discussed for easy reference by readers. This is a great overview that introduces the reader to Naive American beliefs.

Great book - good pictures.

Very nice plates and format, great information. A wonderful addition to my library.

This is an excellent, authoritative book on maples; however, the layout is disappointing. All the color plates are lumped into two sections, rather than placed adjacent to relevant text. The result is very unsatisfying.

I'm a garden writer myself (author of Allergy-Free Gardening) and I do extensive research on trees. I like to own all the finest, most in-depth books there are on as many genera of trees and shrubs as possible, since I make my living by researching which landscape plants cause allergies. Maples of the World isn't perfect and left me in question on a few things, but really, I have quite a few books on the genus Acer and this one is head and shoulders above all the rest. It has a very deep, terribly well-researched section on all the different cultivars of maples. It is well-written, well thought out, and the writers are bona fide maple experts. If you love maples (and what serious gardener doesn't?) consider buying this book. It isn't [inexpensive], but then it is a very large book, with tons of illustrations in color and many excellent drawings. Treat yourself to this valuable addition to your own personal horticultural library.

This is an excellent reference on maples, but be advised that the paperback edition has no color plates, even though it says it does in the Contents. Don't be misled by the cover. Only the original hardbound edition has color plates. Priced as it is, it is very expensive for a book whose illustrations are minimally useful to the average gardener. Black and white photos in small sizes convey very little information.

Eyewitness books are instant heirlooms for your child's library. Adults pass them on to their kids. This one seems to be directed at adults or teenagers, and rightfully so, but many are packed with information and fun for kids. One of three beautiful books along this line given as a gift. Incredible illustrations! Highly recommend any Eyewitness books, if and when you can locate them.

More a pictures and facts book than a research or history book, but then, I'm sure it's intended for a casual younger audience. For it's part, it's a nice visual representation of certain items. I'm using it largely as an idea reference for weapon and armor design, and for that, it's quicker than Google.

These books from Eyewitness collection are Ok for a first and general idea about the subject for teenagers.

It has a lot of information, but it wasn't as detailed as I thought and it wasn't as helpful as I was hoping.

My grandson was thrilled to receive this book for Christmas! The CD enclosed was an added bonus to back up the info and pictures. Great buy!
